Mystery reader

We got a special mystery reader today...almost the entire Rowberry family came to read! What a fun surprise for our students to hear from a mom, dad, brothers, and a sister!


Painting a winter wonderland

We did a little art project to get us thinking about winter...as if we aren't thinking about it enough! The kids used white crayon to draw things made if snow then painted over it with blue water color to create a wax resist effect. They turned out great!

Mystery reader

This was the fourth week of having a mystery reader come on Friday to read a book to the class. The kids get to listen to a story in English and are excited to find out who the mystery reader is each week!


Leer juntos es mejor!

Today was the second time our class got to read with their 4th grade buddies from Sra. Viveros' class. They loved it! Reading together is better!



Winter mini books

We worked very nicely and quietly making, coloring, and organizing mini books about winter. We saw 10 snowflakes, 9 icicles, 8 clouds, 7...

Games with Sr. Schack!

St. Schack crimes every other day to play games for morning meeting and today we played a game to practice our spelling words.

Pajama day party!

Her we are dressed up in our PJs to celebrate what GREAT readers we are! We watched Madagascar 3 during snack time and they walked around in slippers.

The kids played freeze dance today during morning meeting in their pajamas. What a great start to the day!

We had a fun day in reading today because we got to play sight word bingo! What a great way to practice reading!

Doggie read to self

My dog came into work with me this weekend so I let him practice leer a mi mismo on a puf, work in my teacher chair for a bit, and practice tempo silencioso by taking a nap on the alfombra.




Painted turkeys

Hello everyone! I'm back! My phone has been on a hiatus but I'm now happy to say I can continue with the photo blog! Today the kids were finishing up their paste paper turkeys that they started yesterday. You'll get to see how beautiful they are hanging on the wall at conferences. :)

Painting pumpkins

Last week was pumpkin week in Senorita Palmer's first grade class. On Wednesday we got to paint some mini pumpkins donated by a wonderful room mom. Look how beautiful they are!






Pumpkin seed taste testers

Yesterday our class got a little messy as we cut open a pumpkin and counted its seeds. Did you know that a large pumpkin might have 437 seeds like ours did? Today we got to try the baked seeds . Some really like them, and some really did not.

Read to self

Our first day of practicing read to self time went very well! The students each have their own box of books that they need to read silently and by themselves. It is a very calm environment and is a great way for them to improve their reading!
