Gracias Srta. Kolla!

We had a high school Spanish student come help in our class for an hour every couple weeks. She helped us work on math problems and science and art! Good luck with the rest of the year!

A trip to the EP library

From April 8, 2013

We went on a field trip to the EP library today to get a tour and learn about My Book Day which is coming up in May. After learning about how the library words, we walked around to see the books, the help desks, the checkout stations, and best of all, the automated sorting machine, which scans the books and puts them on the correct cart to be re-shelved throughout the library. Then we listened to a silly story about the library and learned a song that we'll be singing with all the other first graders in all of Eden Prairie on My Book Day.

Growing caterpillars

Our caterpillars are growing more and more every day! They are almost getting too big for their jar! Soon they will start making cocoons and we'll transfer them to the butterfly cage. What an exciting process!

Mystery reader

From April 12, 2013

Senor Reinders and his sister came in today to read us a wonderful story about helping others. The kids love the mystery readers and are excited every Friday to find out who it will be!

Telephone reading

From April 11, 2013

Every day during guided reading the kids that work with me must immediately start reading a book from their book box to themselves with a telephone. I listen to each one individually for about 30 seconds to help coach them and check in on their fluency. They do such a great job and are becoming such wonderful readers!

Snowball fight!

From April 11, 2013

Who can believe that we had a snowstorm in April...and it stuck! In honor of the new snowfall, we did a special greeting today using paper snowballs with our names on them. The kids got to have a snowball fight with the paper snowballs and when we were done they greeted the person whose name was on the snowball that they picked up. We hope we don't have to do another one of these until next winter!
